Spay/Neuter Vouchers

.

AHS will help pay to spay or neuter dogs and cats.  We issue assistance vouchers to qualifying individuals based on state low-income guidelines.  These vouchers are accepted at all Whatcom County vets and also at Pasado's Spay Station (operated by WeSNIP) and at N.O.A.H.

To request a voucher, call 671-7445 and leave a message.  A volunteer will return your call and determine if you qualify for a voucher.

Other Programs

Pasado's Spay Station (operated by WeSNIP) is a state-of-the-art mobile surgical unit providing free or low cost spaying and neutering. For a schedule and more information about how the Spay Station program works, visit WeSNIP.org or Pasadosafehaven.org.

The Northwest Organization for Animal Help (N.O.A.H.) in Stanwood offers low cost spay/neuter and vaccination programs for qualifying low income pet guardians, and also offers free spay/neuter for feral (wild) cats. For more information about these programs, visit N.O.A.H.'s website.

The Whatcom Humane Society also offers assistance to qualifying low income pet guardians through the "SNAP" program.  (Spay Neuter Assistance Program). For more information, click here.

The Problem

Animal overpopulation is a crisis in this country.
--Every day in the USA, 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in this country, while only 10,000 people are born.
--An estimated 10-12 million animals are euthanized every year in the USA due to lack of available homes.
--One unaltered female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in 7 years.
--One unaltered female dog and her off-spring can produce 67,000 dogs in 6 years.

The Solution:  Spay and Neuter

--Altered animals live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
--They are less likely to wander, run away, or get in fights.
--They have fewer behavioral problems like aggression and “marking”.
--They are also at lower risk for cancer and some diseases.
--Most importantly, altered animals can’t contribute to the pet overpopulation problem.  For every home you find for an animal that you have bred, a home is lost for a shelter animal.

You can help reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs by spaying or neutering your pet! The whole community benefits from spaying and neutering pets.  Unaltered animals cost millions of taxpayer dollars every year to control, house, and care for.  Additionally, stray animals can become a public nuisance or even a health hazard.

Thank you for being part of the solution!
